Şefik Süzer Named a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society
Prof. Şefik Süzer, chair of the Department of Chemistry, has been named a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society (AVS) for, “his significant contributions to the understanding of electronic structure of atoms, molecules, and surfaces using photoelectron spectroscopy.” This Fellowship recognizes AVS members who have made sustained and outstanding scientific and technical contributions in areas of interest to AVS. The award will be presented at the AVS annual symposium in New Mexico on October 20, 2010. The AVS has an international membership of nearly 5000 and is a nonprofit organization that encourages communication, education, and networking in the application of vacuum and other controlled environments in order to develop new technologies.
